Why shampoo prior to coloring?

The reason Mondo Verde recommends shampooing the hair prior to coloring is that polymers have gotten stronger and stronger and oils used to dress the hair have gotten heavier and heavier. In order for the color to deposit into the cortex, these polymers and oils must be removed. Thus shampooing with Mondo Verde Clean Start Shampoo to clinically cleanse the hair to remove any barriers preventing the color from penetrating properly is a necessity. This will allow the color to freely penetrate for deeper tones with less fading and longer lasting results.

What is Color Foundation?

Color Foundation is pure pigment that is compatible with the pigment of human hair. We at Mondo Verde have found the proper way to deliver this pigment to the natural melanin of the hair.

What does Color Foundation do?

Color Foundation finds an existing color molecule that has been pre-bleached, pre-colored, or faded by the sun and is too porous for your color to hold. When you apply the Color Foundation, it puts the color base into the melanin for your color to grab and hold. The results are deeper color, see-through, vibrant color with no fading regardless of what color you are using. As Color Foundation fills the color molecule it also fills the porosity of the hair because it is the same as healthy hair but in liquid form. The porosity of the hair should feel the same from the scalp to the ends. If the ends fell “rough” reapply. You cannot overdo it! Your color will deposit deeper and more evenly. You will see the difference in color depth when styling. It will be shinier with deeper tones. We have now addressed 2 main issues. 1) a better coloring system and 2) improving the quality of the hair.

How to use Color Foundation

Choose the right Color Foundation. (yellow, red, or brown) Turn the nozzle to spray, not stream. After using the Back Bar System, towel dry the hair and spray Color Foundation from roots to ends and from top to bottom layers. Comb the hair and put under a medium heat dryer. If you don’t have a hood dryer, finger dry with a blow dryer. (no brushing) Hair must be totally dry. Once the hair is dry apply color following manufacturer’s instructions. When the color has fully developed shampoo the color out with Clean Start Shampoo followed by the Mondo Verde Back Bar System. Mondo Verde recommends substituting Moisture Maintenance with Solza to totally rebuild the hair. (Read instructions on how to use Solza) This will last until the next color application. Before styling mist with Preferred Texturizing Serum. The results will be phenomenal; your customer will love it! We recommend your customer use Mondo Verde Special Care Shampoo, Moisture Maintenance and Preferred Texturizing Serum at home to keep the color brilliant and prevent fading.
